PROJECT WORK FLOW AND QUALITY PROCEDURE PROJECT PROCESS

NESTech is the premier provider of CAD/CAM/CAE Services to the world's most prestigious aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing companies. NESTech's Data Transition and Collaborative Engineering services support the rapid transition to new digital engineering CAD systems and improve overall levels of innovation, quality and cost-effectiveness.

How do you track projects internally?

We use ProTrack, a web based Project Management System and Project Tracking software developed exclusively to manage and track project run by NESTech.

Features of ProTrack:

  • Hosted in our website and available all the time.

  • Separate login for Developer and Clients.

  • Different access control levels.

  • Complete project and individual part level details

  • ProTrack is the single point communication tool related to the project.

  • Eliminates email communication.

  • All users have access to up to date information on the project status.

  • Messaging area for Project and Part level to discuss about the project and/or at the part level.
Facility to attach files, to raise questions about the project and to send clarification.

  • Project status of all individual items can be downloaded as an Excel Sheet.
Complete information of the project and/or part including messages can be downloaded as a Word Document.

  • Facility to change project/part priority.

  • Color-coding to easily identity status of the project/part.

  • Red-alert facility to raise critical problems.

  • Extensive search facility.

  • Complete information about “Given data” and “Delivery data

Project Management:

Projects are split into Sub-Projects having 50-100 drawings OR based on a big assembly.
Projects and Sub-projects are given names as per the naming convention like VW_LDM_1 etc
One Project manager (PM) controls whole project
Project leaders (PL) controls Sub-Project
Separate QC team is formed under PM
PM & PL prepare Excel sheets containing each project items (drawings or assemblies) using Project Management System software (PMS) – ProTrack.
The Project Master excel sheet contains individual project item details, Time estimation (3D, 2D, QC),
The Project Schedule excel sheet contains start and target and given to the responsible modeling engineer.

The Project Progress excel sheet contains additional information like modeling engineer, start date, target date, delivery date, percentage completed, time spent as on that date, remarks for clarification or assumptions etc. This file is updated on every day basis. This file is sent to the customer on weekly basis, any clarification required will be requested in this file
Engineer Time Sheet is maintained, based on this Project Progress sheet’s Time spent column is updated.
PMS-ProTrack is useful to find following info in a project
Responsible engineer
QC Engineer
QC Status
Delivery Status
Percentage completed Or Progress (project wise or item wise)
Start Date
Target Date
Compare estimated time with actual time
Delivery dates and Files
Items in hold for clarification
Useful to re-schedule the project
Engineer’s efficiency
Etc.,
4 levels of QC are done.
By Modeling engineer
By Project Leader
By QC Team
By Color Code (one-to-one drawing checking with original drawing by using color highlight, Some customer require this, For Example John Deere, Wirtgen, Konrr Bremse etc)
Project Reviews/Meetings are conducted on weekly basis (normally on Saturday)
Customer Specific Project standard document preparation, in case if it is not supplied by the customer (it includes Dos & Don’t, Best practices, Naming conventions, drawing standards, standard parts, Library creation, handling things which are not covered in the supplied standard document etc., For Example: John Deere, VW etc)
Project directory structure is defined and distributed to all engineers.
What Project Management software do you use?
Internally developed Project Management System software (PMS) ProTrack.
How do you communicate project status to your customers?
Using ProTrack, our own web based Project Management System.
Using Project Progress Excel Sheet on weekly basis OR on request at any time.
Using web based project management system (used for John Deere & VW and was supplied by the customer)
How do you measure internal quality?:

4 levels of QC are done.
By Modeling engineer
By Project Leader
By QC Team
By Color Code (one-to-one drawing checking with original drawing by using color highlight, Some customer require this, For Example John Deere)

 How do you measure timeliness?:

By Using PMS-ProTrack and Project Progress Sheet and Time Sheet.
 Design
What do you typically provide in terms of design documentation?

Excel Sheets
Word Document with images.
3D models and 2D drawings with engineering specifications.
How do you ensure the information security of your customers?:
By allotting secured area for specific project. Entry restricted.
Physical data transfers through CD-ROM and Floppy are security controlled.
Electronic transfer through Internet is restricted to Project Leaders and Project managers.
Network - Fire Wall Protection

UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESS

CAD/CAM/CAE for application in Engineering industries has been one of the best opportunities during last and this decade. NESTech with a view to extend it’s clientele base embarks on a ambitious plan to source work from North America, Europe, and Pacific Rim. The work will be taken with best understanding and very high professional competence.

Once the contract is awarded to NESTech we recommend a small test period where a pilot test project will be developed to client specifications. During this pilot test period a project process will be developed.

It includes

  • Standard specifications

  • Required Standard documents

    Responsibilities of each party

  • QC procedures

  • Identification of the complexity level

  • Time estimation

  • Areas of expertise requirement

  • Customization of the software for automation

  • Best practices as per the client

  • Special techniques & procedures

  • Naming conventions

  • Clarification form standards

  • Manpower planning

  • Scheduling of the project
