Today the industry is demanding higher quality and increased productivity in shorter lead-times. To meet the challenges of their business environment, companies are looking for ways to make production more efficient and cost-effective. Quality management has become increasingly important with the globalization of the suppliers’ network.
3D laser scanning or « digitizing » is a technology that captures the geometry of existing physical objects through the use of digitizing machines or laser scanners. KREON's scanning technology is based on triangulation. The laser triangulation principle is based on the computing of the distance to the object by means of a directional laser source and a video camera. The laser source creates a laser line on the object which is filmed by one or two cameras.
The speed and accuracy of KREON 3D scanners make them the ideal tool for scanning of complex parts of small or large diameter.
The scanners enable a considerable gain of time in many phases of the manufacturing process . First of all, up the line, they are the link between the manual design and the digital model.
During the adjustment of both parts and tools they consistently apply the modifications trade.
Finally, in Production, they enable to check the conformity of the part according to the digital model.
SOME APPLICATIONS OF NON CONTACT LASER SCANNING.
Architectural Restoration |
When original accents can no longer
be located, all hope is not lost. A
3D Laser scan of the original object
can be used to recreate templates and
molds for many items including hand
carved wooden posts, plaster appliqué,
and metal hardware. Using CNC machining,
replica components can be manufactured.
|
Forensics and Deformation Analysis |
For inspection of a failed part, a comparison can be made between a scanned model and the original CAD model or an other sample |
Fabrication and Construction Inspection |
Quality and integrity of manufacturing can be assured by comparing a production sample to both the original CAD file and a sample known to be within spec. |
Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering |
When there is an existing sample, scanning is the ideal basis for run of replacement parts. When replacement parts no longer exist, reverse engineering and short run manufacturing is often the only way to keep antique or legacy equipment in service. |
Historical Archival |
Exact replicas of original art and historical artifacts can be created from 3D Laser Scans, providing historians and enthusiasts access to rare and delicate specimens for study. Replicas could be placed out for museum visitors to touch and hold. |
Virtual Product Visualization |
Utilizing our state of the art facility, the Impact Studios design team will create a virtual computer model, and animate it to illustrate the actual product in use |
Special Effects |
Scan in a maquette or model for inclusion
in your animation or video game. Scan
in people which can be animated doing
things that would otherwise be impossible. |

NESTech scanning solutions is highly effective
at producing the dense, clean data from complex
machined parts that is required for the reverse
engineering of a CAD-compatible surface. NESTech
can help get your quality program going with custom,
reverse engineering services
We specialize in working with customers who are
new to 3D laser scanning and may need extra guidance
when applying this exciting new technology. The
laser scanners are effective on a range of shapes
& surface finishes -- complex parts, shiny and freshly
machined parts, mixed surfaces, and contoured shapes.
We provide complete services under one roof apart from reverse engineering of the products,
- VALUE ENGINEERING: Existing products can be value engineered for performance, looks and cost. NESTech combines its laser scanning, reverse engineering, CAD, CAM and CAE solutions to add value to the existing products of the customers. We can help in the manufacturing of the component including jigs and fixture design or completely take care of manufacturing of the product.
- INSPECTION ANALYSIS OF REVERSE ENGINEERED PARTS: By super imposing the scan data of the part and the reversed engineered CAD model, we provide complete inspection analysis report of the CAD model which we generated.
COMPACT AND PORTABLE - ONSITE SERVICE
3D NON-CONTACT INSPECTION
NESTech provides development, integration, solutions and services in 3D digitizing technologies associated with laser scan. NESTech integrates the physical & digital world by providing world-class 3D laser scanning services for a variety of customers and industries. These services include:
- Quality Control Inspection of production parts

CAD TO PART COMPARISON
Using our state of the art non contact laser scanning technology and powerful software, production part's scan date (point cloud or polygon data) and existing CAD model are superimposed to find deviations of the produced part from the originally designed CAD model. This method is extremely fast and accurate method to inspect complex parts, during tool qualification stage. We also provide this inspection analysis report along with all our reverse engineering projects to the customer to aid them to quickly validate 3D models created by reverse engineering process.
TOOL AND DIE VERIFICATION
NESTech can provide comprehensive analysis of feature locations and deviations from a CAD model on complex real world parts/tool/die.
3D MEASUREMENT
We can measure and validate 3D free form surfaces of complex parts, Assembly positions, welding fixtures, checking gauges, structural parts, dies, jigs by way of 3D measurement capability of system and deviation reports given immediately.
EXTREMELY FAST AND ACCURATE RESULTS
Modern manufacturing requires rapid measurement and analysis that can not be done with conventional systems. NESTech solutions and services can provide up to 90% reduction in inspection time and a ten-fold increase in accuracy over conventional techniques.
COMPACT AND PORTABLE - ONSITE SERVICE
Our laser scanning and 3D Inspection / measurement systems are compact and portable, it can be moved to your location to carry out the work.
How Laser Scanning work? - STEP BY STEP EXPLAINED.
|
Source Object |
|
The laser draws a red line on the part. |
|
The video camera records are digitized in real time. |
|
Resulting data is a 3D points set. |
|
The system is moved all around the part. Result is well defined points. |
|
Finally, gathered data from the surface delivers a 3D model. |
